Dimitropoulos: Reactions and Markets May Lead to Faster De-escalation

International relations expert D. Dimitropoulos believes that reactions from Gulf countries and pressures from the markets may lead to faster de-escalation following the US-Israel attack on Iran. However, he emphasizes that the attack lacks international legitimacy and creates difficulties for US allies who condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Mr. Dimitropoulos describes the attack as a dangerous escalation with the risk of expanding the conflict throughout the Middle East, pointing out a mismatch between goals and means in US and Israeli strategy. He believes that the complete dismantling of Iran's nuclear and missile programs is almost impossible without a continuous military presence and control on the ground, while regime change would require enormous costs and unpredictable consequences.
