Defense and Security Exhibition in Nicosia: Drones, Anti-Tank Missiles, and More

The Battlefield Redefined Defense and Security Exhibition is underway in Nicosia, where Cypriot companies are showcasing their products in the defense and security sector. The exhibition features drones, anti-tank missiles, specialized vehicles, boats, and other innovations. The exhibition brings together European institutions, national authorities, industry, and innovation stakeholders. The conference focuses on the EU's defense industrial readiness, the transition from strategy to operational capability, and the role of hybrid threats, cyberspace, and space. President Nikos Christodoulides emphasized the strategic role of the Cypriot defense industry for national security, European defense, and economic development. Cyprus aims to become a producer and contributor to the European defense architecture. Over the past five years, 18 Cypriot companies have participated in 44 projects under the European Defense Industrial Development Program (EDIDP) and the European Defense Fund (EDF), with a total budget of approximately €600 million and direct funding to Cypriot companies of approximately €48 million. President Christodoulides estimated that the contribution of the defense industry to GDP could reach double-digit percentages.
