Cyta: Strategic Entry into Energy Without Competing with EAC

Cyta is considering entering the energy market, aiming to promote clean energy solutions and offer cheaper options to citizens, without competing with the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC). According to the honorary president of EPOET-OHO SEK, Ilias Dimitriou, the entry of telecommunications into the energy sector is a global trend and Cyta should participate in this process. He believes that the problems of the EAC should not prevent Cyta from entering the market. Mr. Dimitriou stressed that Cyta's non-entry into the clean energy sector will lead to agreements between its competitors, resulting in them offering packages to their customers. Cyta will support citizens facing difficulties by offering cheaper energy, while the EAC will not suffer significant losses from the loss of 4-5 thousand customers. Cyta plans to acquire its own photovoltaic park and cooperate with other energy providers. He denied rumors of existing agreements with private companies, emphasizing that any projects will start after the necessary decisions and the preparation of infrastructure in one to two years. Cyta's entry into the energy market is expected to boost competition and offer more choices to consumers. Cyta's strategy focuses on providing clean and cheap energy, contributing to Cyprus's energy transition and protecting the environment.
