Cyprus websites under cyberattacks - "A common occurrence", says Communications Commissioner

Several websites in Cyprus have been targeted by cyberattacks in recent days, mainly Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks, where pages are overloaded with artificially increased traffic. Communications Commissioner Giorgos Michailidis described these attacks as common and not particularly dangerous. There is no specific pattern to the websites being targeted, and the attacks are not continuous. The Digital Security Authority (DSA) provides information and technical assistance, but protecting against such attacks requires website owners to invest in specialized services that can handle increased traffic. The DSA monitors the phenomenon 24/7 and informs critical infrastructure.
