Cyprus Talks: Government Spokesman Urges Clear Political Will

Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis stressed the need for a clear expression of political will to restart negotiations on the Cyprus issue, ahead of tomorrow's meeting between President Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Erhurman, in the presence of the UN Secretary-General's personal envoy, Maria Angela Holguin. President Christodoulides briefed Ms. Holguin on his approach to restarting negotiations, based on the achievements of the previous process. He will present a specific proposal to Mr. Erhurman tomorrow on how to resume talks from the point where they were interrupted in Crans Montana. Mr. Letymbiotis stated that the discussion will also include the four-point methodology proposed by Mr. Erhurman, while reiterating the President's position on political equality, as recorded in the latest communiqué. The Spokesman called on Mr. Erhurman to demonstrate genuine political will, emphasizing that the resumption of negotiations is the only way to a solution, in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
