Cyprus Suffocates in Dust: Areas with Highest Concentrations Revealed

Cyprus is experiencing high concentrations of dust in the atmosphere, according to measurements from the Department of Labour Inspection. The highest concentrations were recorded in Paphos (180.2 μg/m3) and Agia Marina Xyliatou (178.6 μg/m3), with increased levels also observed in Limassol (132.6 μg/m3), Larnaca (79.3 μg/m3), Paralimni (82.8 μg/m3), Nicosia (44.4 μg/m3), and Zygi (126.3 μg/m3). The public, especially vulnerable groups (children, the elderly, and patients), is advised to avoid outdoor activities until the phenomenon subsides. Employers are also urged to take necessary safety measures for employees working in open spaces, and they are recommended to use appropriate personal protective equipment.
