Cyprus: Space Technology Proposed for Water Leak Detection

A Greek company, SESILINK, presented to the Cypriot Ministry of Agriculture an advanced technology for detecting water leaks, based on Artificial Intelligence and the use of satellites. The technology was piloted in Paralimni with positive results, enabling rapid data provision for targeted repairs and reducing unnecessary excavations. The company proposes the application of the technology throughout Cyprus, covering urban networks and irrigation infrastructure, for long-term planning at a national level. The technology, which has already been implemented in countries such as the United States and Japan, is based on the analysis of subsurface moisture patterns and offers a non-invasive solution for leak detection.
