Cyprus says "thank you" to Le Brun for half a century of contribution to Archaeological Heritage - The touching story

The award for the Rescue and Promotion of the Archaeological Heritage of Cyprus for 2025 was presented to the French archaeologists Alain Le Brun and Odile Daune-Le Brun by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, at a special ceremony in Nicosia. This institution, which returns after 14 years, aims to recognize contributions to the protection and promotion of Cyprus's archaeological heritage. President Christodoulides emphasized the importance of archaeology for understanding the history and identity of Cyprus, as well as the devastating impact of the Turkish invasion of 1974 on cultural heritage. He also praised the work of the Department of Antiquities in protecting and promoting archaeological sites and the effort to recover stolen archaeological objects.
