Cyprus Records Second Lowest Inflation Rate in the EU

Cyprus maintained a low inflation rate in February 2026, recording the second lowest percentage in the European Union, with an annual rate of 0.9%. At the Eurozone level, inflation rose to 1.9%, while in the EU it reached 2.1%, showing an increase compared to the previous month, but remaining lower compared to February 2025. The countries with the lowest inflation were Denmark (0.5%) and the Czech Republic (1.0%), while the highest rates were recorded in Romania (8.3%), Slovakia (4.0%) and Croatia (3.9%). Cyprus is in a stable position regarding inflation control compared to other EU countries. Compared to January 2026, inflation decreased in eleven member states, remained stable in four and increased in twelve, indicating a differentiated picture in Europe. Cyprus is not among the countries where inflation increased. In the Eurozone, services were the main driver of inflation, followed by food, alcohol, tobacco and non-energy industrial goods. Conversely, energy had a negative contribution, reducing the overall inflation index. This analysis shows the complexity of the factors influencing inflation in the Eurozone.
