Cyprus Ports and Airports Operating Normally, Minister Assures

Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeades, assured that the ports and airports of Cyprus are operating normally, denying reports of their closure. During his visit to the Limassol port, he emphasized that the Cypriot economy will not be held hostage by the ongoing conflict. Mr. Vafeades pointed out that any reports of the port's closure are misinformation and could have negative consequences for the economy and workers. He stressed that Cyprus's airspace remains open, despite contrary statements. Furthermore, the Minister stated that Cyprus is focused on its humanitarian role, providing aid to Gaza, and that the country will continue to operate normally as an economy. He referred to the storage of humanitarian aid at the Limassol port, such as houses, beds, food, and other consumables for the residents of Gaza. Mr. Vafeades monitored the situation regarding the supply chain and stated that the worst-case scenario would be a repeat of last year's situation, where goods arrived via the Strait of Gibraltar. However, he assured that there is no indication that ships have chosen other ports instead of Limassol, as 50 arrivals and departures of ships were recorded in the last few days.
