Cyprus Parliament Begins Debate on Refugee Law Replacement

The Parliamentary Committee on Interior Affairs has begun discussions on replacing the existing Refugee Law, aiming to regulate the procedures for managing migration and asylum, in accordance with the provisions of the European Pact on Migration and Asylum. The Committee President stated that the new law is extensive and the views of relevant services, ministries, and civil society organizations will be considered. Emphasis is placed on protecting the rights of minors and ensuring compliance with Cyprus's European obligations. Some organizations have expressed concerns about the need to safeguard the rights of unaccompanied children.
