Cyprus Navy Conducts Joint Exercise with Israel in its EEZ

The Cyprus Navy maintains a constant state of readiness, conducting patrols and exercises throughout the Republic of Cyprus's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). Recently, the vessels 'PATH Ioannidis' and 'PGY Alassia' participated in a joint naval exercise with the Israeli Navy, named 'CYP/ISR-01/2026'. The exercise focused on enhancing interoperability between the two naval forces and included scenarios involving tactical maneuvers, vessel control, and communication. The aim of the exercise was to examine important scenarios in real-world conditions and improve cooperation between Cyprus and Israel. This joint training falls within the framework of the National Guard's defense cooperation programs. The constant presence and readiness of the Cypriot Navy underscore the importance of protecting Cyprus's sovereign rights in the EEZ. The exercise included advanced maneuvers, formations, and procedures for inspecting suspect vessels. Communication methods using flags were also tested, along with the exchange of liaison officers and medical teams on board. These activities contribute to the crews' preparedness to face various challenges at sea. Cooperation with Israel is considered particularly important for Cyprus, as it strengthens regional security and stability. This exercise is another step in deepening defense relations between the two countries and promoting mutual trust and understanding.
