Cyprus Issues Safety Recommendations for Ships in the Middle East

The Deputy Ministry of Shipping issued a recommendation to owners and managers of ships under the Cypriot flag, urging them to avoid approaching ports and countries where political instability or armed conflict prevails. The recommendation specifically concerns the Middle East region and encourages increased vigilance, close communication with authorities, and the implementation of strict security measures on ships. Specifically, it is recommended to implement ISPS security level 3 and re-evaluate passage through dangerous straits, such as the Strait of Hormuz.
