Cyprus Hospitals Near Capacity as Flu Cases Rise

Public hospitals in Cyprus are experiencing high occupancy rates, ranging from 85% to 90%, with a forecast for further increases in the coming days. Spokesman for the Cyprus Organisation of State Health Care Services (OKYpY), Charalambos Charilaou, stated that this is an expected phenomenon for the season, without affecting the operation of the hospitals. There is an increased influx to the Accident and Emergency Departments due to staff and doctor leave, while admissions of patients with Flu A have also increased. Unfortunately, one death of a patient with the flu has been recorded, who belonged to a vulnerable group.
