Cyprus: DISY Leader Calls for Clarification on Government's Position Following Mousiouttas' Remarks

Tensions are rising between the Cypriot Government and the DISY party regarding the Cyprus-Greece Interconnection (GSI) project. DISY leader, Nicolas Papadopoulos, accused the government of a lack of coordination, while the Minister of Labour, Marinos Mousiouttas, responded by speaking of “survival games” on the part of the party, implying an attempt to gain political points. Mousiouttas stated that Papadopoulos' criticism is an effort to differentiate DISY from the government, which is blamed for the rising cost of living. Papadopoulos countered by requesting clarification from the government regarding Mousiouttas' statements, questioning whether they represent the government's position. Mousiouttas argued that this tactic is similar to a previous failed attempt, and expressed the view that centrist parties are trying to survive at the expense of others.
