Cyprus' 'Cronos' Gas Field Development Nears Completion

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, announced that the 'Cronos' gas field is in the final stages of development, aiming to export Cypriot natural gas to Europe via Egypt. The completion of the work is expected by the end of March, when the President will travel to Egypt to participate in the Cairo Energy Forum, having also invited the President of the European Commission. The development of 'Cronos' is the first from the plots in the Cypriot EEZ and is considered important for the economy and the people of Cyprus. During the meeting with ENI's representative, Guido Brusco, President Christodoulides emphasized the importance of rapidly completing the project, while Mr. Brusco stated that the company has already invested $1.2 billion in Cyprus. The cooperation between Cyprus, Egypt, ENI, and TOTAL is considered crucial for the success of the venture. The Minister of Energy of Cyprus also had productive discussions with Mr. Brusco, confirming ENI's commitment to Cyprus. The government expresses confidence that the development of the field will significantly contribute to Europe's energy security. The successful completion of the 'Cronos' project and the export of natural gas to Europe are a strategic goal for Cyprus, strengthening its position as an energy hub in the region.
