The clause regarding the channeling of 20% of the natural gas production from the 'Cronus' deposit to Egypt is being modified, according to government sources. This modification will facilitate the transfer of Cypriot natural gas to Egypt. The information came to light following a meeting between the President of the Republic and the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum, Karim Badawi, who was in Nicosia for the launch of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. There is optimism regarding the resolution of issues in Block 12 and the advancement of production from the 'Aphrodite' deposit. The agreement on the Cyprus-Egypt EEZ, signed in February 2025, is considered a milestone for the exploitation of the deposits and the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.
