Cypriot President to Hold Bilateral Meetings During EU Presidency Launch

The President of the Republic will hold a series of bilateral meetings on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, as part of the launch of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union. High-ranking EU officials and heads of state will participate in these meetings, including the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, with whom European priorities and the strengthening of Europe's strategic autonomy will be discussed. He will also meet with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, focusing on European support for Ukraine and the search for a peaceful solution. In addition, a meeting is scheduled with the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, regarding stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and EU-Southern Neighborhood cooperation, as well as with the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum. Following the inauguration ceremony, an official dinner will be hosted with the participation of the heads of delegations, including the President of Moldova and the President of Iraq.
