Cypriot Presidency Continues Work Amidst Regional Crisis, President Assures

The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, assured from Brussels that despite the crisis in the region, the Cypriot Presidency continues its work as planned. During the Tripartite Social Summit, the President emphasized that daily life in Cyprus has not been affected and the country continues to function normally. He highlighted Cyprus' dual role as a member of the EU but also a country in the Mediterranean and the Middle East, clarifying that it is not part of the crisis, but is dealing with an isolated incident in British bases. The President Christodoulides conveyed the expectations of the countries in the region from the EU for substantial support and a leading role in de-escalating the crisis, proposing cooperation with third countries. He thanked European countries for their support, stating that Cyprus gave substance to Article 42.7 without formally activating it. Furthermore, President Christodoulides sent a message to investors and businesses, assuring them that Cyprus is a safe, stable and functional hub for businesses, investments and tourism. The Government seeks to ensure the continuation of economic activity despite geopolitical challenges. Overall, the Cypriot Presidency demonstrates stability and continuity despite external pressures, and works to safeguard the interests of Cyprus and promote peace and security in the region.
