CY SOMMS: Promoting the Art of Wine in Cyprus

The Pan-Cypriot Sommeliers Association (CY SOMMS) has been the leading organization in promoting the art of wine in Cyprus for 23 years. Founded in 2001 by a small group of professionals and wine enthusiasts, and re-registered as an association in 2024, the organization continues to evolve and gain international recognition. Since 2003, CY SOMMS has been a full member of the International Sommeliers Association (ASI), enabling Cyprus to participate in global competitions and host significant events, such as the Best Sommelier of Europe & Africa in 2021. Today, CY SOMMS boasts 160 members from across the wine and gastronomy industry. The association focuses on education, organizing seminars, lectures, and competitions like the Best Sommelier of Cyprus and the Best Young Sommelier of Cyprus. Its aim is to showcase new talents and promote Cypriot wine culture. In an interview, the Vice President of CY SOMMS, Heraclius Christoforou, highlights the association's vision for the future of wine in Cyprus, emphasizing the dynamism of the community and its commitment to professional excellence and the promotion of Cypriot wine.
