Cross Lost and Recovered During Epiphany Celebrations in Ayia Napa

An unexpected incident occurred during the Epiphany celebrations in Ayia Napa, with the golden cross being lost in the sea during the traditional blessing of the waters ceremony. Over 30 people dove to retrieve it. To continue the ceremony, a wooden cross was thrown into the sea and retrieved by two swimmers, while white doves were released. Later, the golden cross was found and handed over to the Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta, Basil. The swimmer who found it received a gold cross, and silver crosses were given to all participants in the dive. The incident occurred just hours after a similar accident in Limassol.
