Criticism of Government over Special and Inclusive Education – Serious Complaints to Education Committee

Serious complaints were made to the House Education Committee regarding delays and indifference from the Government regarding the modernization of special and inclusive education. MPs reported that the existing framework is outdated and consultation on the issue has been ongoing for decades, while the Government has not submitted legislation to upgrade the system. Committee President Pavlos Mylonas criticized the lack of prioritization and the inability to find resources, while Christos Christofides (AKEL) denounced “mockery” from the Government, as it had committed to dialogue and legislation in 2024, without result. Problems of overcrowding in special schools and the need to create multi-purpose support centers were also highlighted.
