Crime Wave in Limassol – Police Investigating Possible Connection

Limassol is at the center of a series of criminal activities, with the Police on high alert. The latest attack, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, targeted the home of a 39-year-old Russian, with the throwing of a firecracker and an incendiary device. Authorities are investigating a connection between these attacks and previous ones, such as the bombing of a loan company's offices and the shooting at a hotel complex. In December 2025, three similar attacks were recorded, mainly against foreign entrepreneurs, with motives possibly related to protection or extortion. Specifically, there was an arson attack on a wine cellar owned by a Russian businessman, as well as the destruction of his luxury vehicles, with a total value of over €1.5 million. Another incident involved the arson of a car wash, after a warning message. The Police have collected footage from security cameras and are calling on homeowners and business owners to testify. The 39-year-old Russian stated that he does not suspect anyone, while investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators and their exact motives. The perpetrators do not appear to be deterred and continue their attacks. The series of attacks suggests a possible attempt to put pressure on entrepreneurs or influence their business activities. The Police are closely monitoring the situation and taking measures to prevent further criminal acts, while the investigation focuses on the possible connection between the attacks and the identification of the organizers.
