Cran Montana Fire: Bar Owner Admits Service Door Was Locked, Trapping People

New information regarding the fatal fire at the Cran Montana bar highlights serious safety oversights. The bar owner, Jacques Moretti, admitted to authorities that the service door on the ground floor was locked from the inside and was not included among the emergency exits. He claimed he managed to unlock it from the outside and found several people unconscious. The charge of manslaughter may be upgraded to manslaughter with premeditation if it is proven that Moretti and his wife were responsible for the locked door. Moretti has a dark criminal past, with charges of pimping, fraud, kidnapping and illegal detention in France and Switzerland. He has been described as a known pimp and has served prison time for similar cases.
