Cran Montana Bar Fire: Owners Investigated for Manslaughter

Published January 3, 2026, 13:21

Swiss authorities are investigating the safety standards of the bar in Cran Montana, where over 40 people, including minors, lost their lives. The investigation focuses on whether the bar complied with safety and fire safety measures, and the owners, Jacques and Jessica Moretti, may be charged with manslaughter if it is found that the construction interventions did not comply with regulations. According to initial estimates, the fire started from sparks from fireworks that ignited the soundproofing insulation of the roof. The first four victims, Swiss nationals aged 16 to 21, have been identified.
