A video that has surfaced in Cyprus has caused a political earthquake, as it raises suspicions of illegal funding of Nikos Christodoulides' election campaign, suspicious donations to the Presidential Palace and the First Lady's Fund, as well as mechanisms to circumvent sanctions for the benefit of Russian oligarchs. The 8-minute video features former Energy Minister Giorgos Lakkotrypis, the President's Office Director Charalambos Charalambous, and Cyfield Group director Giorgos Chrysoschos. The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) has been informed about the video and is examining its content, although it has limited jurisdiction over issues of sanctions evasion, which fall under the jurisdiction of national authorities.
