Controlled Burn Planned at Machairas Forest Edge

The Forestry Department announced that it will conduct a controlled burn at the edge of Machairas Forest, in the Maratheftis area, on March 18th. This action is being implemented on a pilot basis, aiming to manage combustible forest material and enhance forest fire prevention measures. The Forestry Department assures the public that the process will be carried out under strict supervision and there is no cause for concern. Controlled burning is a preventative method to reduce the risk of large fires by reducing the accumulation of flammable material in the forest.
