Construction Site Safety: Lack of Specialized Inspectors and Inadequate Implementation of Measures

The president of the Association of Civil Engineers, Kyriakos Tsioupanis, emphasized in the morning edition of ASTRA that ensuring structural integrity and safety at construction sites is a collective responsibility. Referring to a recent incident in Limassol, he highlighted the possible inadequate implementation of safety measures. While acknowledging the necessity of foreign workers due to a lack of local personnel, he stressed the need for them to be skilled and not unskilled. He also pointed out the lack of adequate control due to limited staff and the need for schools to produce specialized technicians capable of carrying out the necessary safety checks, in accordance with the standards of ATI. The lack of specialized inspectors and the inadequate implementation of safety measures are significant problems that need to be addressed immediately.
