Construction Resumes on Illegally Occupied Properties in Northern Cyprus

Construction work has reportedly resumed on properties illegally occupied by Simon Aykut and others in Northern Cyprus, according to information presented to the Parliamentary Refugee Committee. Committee members expressed concern over the development, particularly in relation to the government's decision to return Aykut to Israel to serve his sentence. Refugee associations have called for Aykut to remain in Cyprus. The committee meeting was held behind closed doors at the request of the Legal Service, raising questions about transparency. It was reported that work has resumed on approximately 40 properties that had been illegally occupied by Aykut and his associates.
