Compensation Committee: Condemnable Actions Spreading Foot-and-Mouth Disease

The Advisory Committee on Livestock Compensation for Foot-and-Mouth Disease continues its work to establish a framework for fair and individualized compensation to affected livestock farmers, as well as the reconstruction of livestock capital. The committee emphasizes the importance of close cooperation with livestock farmers and full compliance with the instructions of the competent authorities, including slaughtering and sampling procedures. Any action that violates European legislation or contributes to the spread of the virus is considered condemnable. Completion of slaughtering according to protocols is a prerequisite for the payment of an advance. The committee is composed of representatives from various bodies, such as the Department of Agriculture, the Agricultural Research Institute, the Veterinary Services and agricultural organizations, with the aim of supporting those affected and the rapid reactivation of livestock units.
