Church of Cyprus Donates Building Housing Greek Embassy in Nicosia

The Church of Cyprus has donated the building in Nicosia that houses the Greek Embassy to the Greek state. The decision was made following a proposal by Archbishop Georgios and announced by the President of the Church Committee of the Church of Panagia Faneromeni, Chrysostomos Chrysostomou, during events commemorating March 25th. The donation is a gesture of honor and recognition towards Greece and the Greek people. The Greek Ambassador to Cyprus, Konstantinos Kollia, expressed his gratitude for the Church's contribution, emphasizing the long-standing cooperation between the two entities on national issues, the promotion of the Greek language and culture. He assured that the building will continue to be used by the Greek Embassy. The donated building is the middle one of the three located on Byron Avenue and used by the Greek diplomatic mission. The entire property belongs to the Church of Faneromeni, which until now leased the buildings to the Embassy for a symbolic rent. The donation concerns only one of the three buildings. This move highlights the strong ties between the Church of Cyprus and Greece, as well as the importance of maintaining the Greek presence and culture in Cyprus. The donation is expected to strengthen the diplomatic presence of Greece in Cyprus.
