Christodoulides Presents Five-Point Proposal for Cyprus Talks, Olguin Cautious

President Christodoulides presented a five-point proposal at yesterday's trilateral meeting on the Cyprus issue, aiming to achieve progress in the negotiations. The proposal concerns reaffirming the basis for a solution, confirming convergences, transmitting convergences to the involved parties, organizing a formal conference, and discussing the opening of four new crossing points. The German special envoy, Maria Angela Holguin, appeared cautious, following the pace of the Turkish side and emphasizing Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs) rather than the substance of the Cyprus issue. The Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhurman, stated that Christodoulides' proposals were not new, but had been put forward in the past in a fragmented manner.
