Christodoulides: 'Our Presidency Brings the EU Closer to the Region and Egypt'

The President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, met today with the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, at the Presidential Palace. The meeting took place in the context of the launch of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU). President Christodoulides emphasized the close cooperation between Cyprus and Egypt, noting that Egypt is a strategic partner of the EU and a pillar of stability in the region. He highlighted the priority of the Cypriot Presidency to bring the EU closer to the region and Egypt. Furthermore, he referred to the importance of Energy on the Presidency's agenda and announced that he will meet tomorrow with an official from ENI. He stressed the need for coordination and rapid developments in the energy sector. Minister Badawi congratulated Cyprus on its Presidency of the EU Council and recognized the strategic importance of cooperation between the two countries.
