Chevron Greenlights Expansion of Leviathan Gas Field in Israel

Chevron has approved the expansion of production at the Leviathan gas field in Israel, a move expected to significantly boost natural gas supplies in the Eastern Mediterranean region. The expansion will increase total gas deliveries to approximately 21 billion cubic meters annually, with operations anticipated towards the end of the decade. Leviathan is one of the largest natural gas fields in the Eastern Mediterranean and a cornerstone of Israel's energy system. Gas exports from Israel, via Egypt and LNG facilities, contribute to meeting Europe's energy needs, enhancing the field's geopolitical importance. Partners in Leviathan include Chevron Mediterranean Ltd, NewMed Energy, and Ratio Energies. Chevron states its commitment to developing Israel's natural gas resources and providing energy to millions of people in the region. The company also holds other significant assets in the area, such as the Tamar and Aphrodite fields.
