Chaos at German Airports, Almost All Lufthansa Flights Cancelled

Published February 12, 2026, 14:33

A strike by Lufthansa pilots and cabin crew members has led to the cancellation of almost all flights of the company from German airports. More than 460 flights are expected to be cancelled, affecting approximately 69,000 passengers. Pilots and crew are demanding higher employer contributions to pensions, while the cabin crew organization UFO expresses concerns about job losses due to Lufthansa's strategy in its subsidiaries. Lufthansa described the strike as an unnecessary escalation and argued that the unions' demands would lead to a significant increase in costs.
