Changes to Fine Amounts for Traffic Violations Recorded by Traffic Cameras

New regulations regarding fines for traffic violations recorded by traffic cameras are effective from today, March 6, 2026, following a decision by the Council of Ministers. The fines are as follows: €25 for failing to stop at the mandatory stop line, €85 and 3 penalty points for entering a pedestrian crossing on a red light, €300 and 3 penalty points for entering beyond the pedestrian crossing on a red light, and €300 and 3 penalty points for entering the intersection beyond the white stop line when there is no pedestrian crossing. Police state that the changes will not be applied retroactively. These changes concern the out-of-court settlement of violations and aim to enhance road safety. The legislation governing the changes is Law 91(I)/2024.
