Cause of the Biolanda Tragedy: Months-Long Propane Leak and Spark

The fatal explosion at the Biolanda factory in Trikala was caused by a months-long propane leak, combined with high concentrations of gas underground and a spark. According to the Fire Department's investigation, the leak originated from underground pipelines connecting two propane tanks to the building housing the ovens. The leaked gas accumulated in a basement area and, in the presence of a spark from electromechanical equipment, led to the explosion. The Fire Department mobilized significant forces to tackle the resulting fire, and three arrests were made based on the investigation's findings.
