British Destroyer HMS Dragon Arrives in Cyprus

The British destroyer “Dragon” arrived in Cyprus after almost two weeks of travel from Portsmouth, England. Its arrival aims to strengthen the air defense of British bases on the island, during a period of increased tension in the region. British Defense Secretary John Healey confirmed the ship's operational integration into the defense of Cyprus. The Defense Secretary also stated that all British personnel in the region are safe and that RAF and Navy aircraft have completed nearly 900 flight hours to defend Cyprus and other countries in the region. In addition, there are 500 additional air defense personnel in Cyprus. The deployment of the “Dragon” comes after an Iranian drone attack on the British Akrotiri base. The destroyer is considered one of the most advanced anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense ships in Europe, featuring advanced systems and capabilities. The presence of the ship marks the United Kingdom's determination to protect its interests and ensure the security of Cyprus and the wider region.
