Bodies of PAOK Fans Return to Thessaloniki After Romania Tragedy

The bodies of the seven PAOK fans who lost their lives in the tragic traffic accident in Romania will return to Thessaloniki tomorrow, Thursday (29/1), on a special flight of the Air Force. In addition, one injured person will be transferred to Thessaloniki by an EKAB flight for further hospital treatment. Of the other two injured, one has been discharged, while the other is undergoing surgery and is not yet fit to travel. The tragedy has plunged the PAOK family and the friends of the victims into mourning. According to the lawyer of the car rental company, the van involved in the accident did not have a lane assist system. Initial reports of a technical fault in the system are not confirmed, as the vehicle was manufactured in 2017, when lane assist was not mandatory equipment for new vehicles in the European Union. The car rental company emphasizes that its vehicles are delivered fully inspected. The passengers' route was unknown to the company, as only the driver's documents and the duration of use of the vehicle are checked during the rental.
