Bishop Athanasios of Limassol Reflects on Past and Present

The Bishop of Limassol, Athanasios, celebrated his name day receiving wishes from officials, clergy and the people. During a luncheon he hosted, he humorously recalled an incident from his childhood where he threw stones at the Metropolis of Limassol, contrasting it with his current work, which he characterized as a continuous effort of building. He also recounted a memory from his first confession, which coincided with the death of the priest who heard it, and referred to the period of the ecclesiastical coup, where he participated in demonstrations against the Metropolis due to disagreement with the then Metropolitan of Kition. He emphasized the importance of humility and gratitude to God for the blessings we receive. Instead of gifts, the Bishop requested support for the meal of the poor of the Metropolis.
