Berlinale Selection 2026: German Films to Screen in Nicosia

The Goethe-Institut Cyprus is organizing Berlinale Selection 2026, a series of screenings of contemporary German cinema, from February 5th to 8th, 2026 at the Pantheon Cinema in Nicosia. The event will feature six films that were shown at the Berlinale in 2023, 2024 and 2025, offering a variety of themes and styles. The films explore themes such as identity, vulnerability, and the search for belonging, focusing on characters in transitional phases of life. The selection includes works that negotiate art, migration, culture and memory, offering a comprehensive picture of contemporary German cinema. The program includes films such as "Köln 75", "Shahid", "Roter Himmel - Afire" and "Mit der Faust in die Welt schlagen", as well as two others. Discussions with Kaiti Papadima will follow certain screenings. The event is supported by the Friends of Cinema Club and the films will be screened with Greek dialogue or subtitles.
