Adjournment in Examination of Bail Request for German Real Estate Agent

A new adjournment has been granted in the examination of the bail request of German real estate agent Eva Isabella Kiunzel, who is accused of usurping Greek Cypriot properties in the occupied territories. The case is being heard in the Permanent Criminal Court of Nicosia, and the new hearing date has been set for March 18, 2026. The adjournment was decided due to the prosecution's unpreparedness to argue on the request. The defense lawyer, Sotiris Argyrou, expressed strong dissatisfaction, citing serious problems he faces during meetings with his client in the Central Prisons, such as delays in meetings, inspection of correspondence, and delayed delivery of it. During the session, the examination of prosecution witnesses continued. The President of the Community Council of Agios Ambrosios Kerynia, Pantelis Ttofi, testified that before the Turkish invasion of 1974, all land plots in Agios Ambrosios belonged to Greek Cypriots and none to Turkish Cypriots. Regarding the plot concerning the case, the witness testified that it belongs to the Church and was never sold or consent given for construction. During the examination of the witness, an objection arose from the defense regarding the question about the residents of the village after the Turkish invasion, as it was considered to aim at creating prejudice.
