Το Ισραήλ προετοιμάζεται για ευρείας κλίμακας χερσαία επιχείρηση στον νότιο Λίβανο, με στόχο να «διαλύσει» τις δυνάμεις της Χεζμπολάχ νότια του ποταμού Λιτάνι, σύμφωνα με δημοσίευμα του Axios, το οποίο επικαλείται Ισραηλινούς και Αμερικανούς αξιωματούχους.
Η επιχείρηση, όπως αναφέρεται, προβλέπει την κατάληψη ολόκληρης της περιοχής νότια του ποταμού Λιτάνι και την εξάλειψη των στρατιωτικών υποδομών της Χεζμπολάχ. Η επιχείρηση αυτή θα είναι η μεγαλύτερη που έχει διεξαχθεί στον Λίβανο από τον πόλεμο του 2006.
«Θα κάνουμε ό,τι κάναμε στη Γάζα», δήλωσε υψηλόβαθμος Ισραηλινός αξιωματούχος στο Axios. Η επιχείρηση σχεδιάστηκε μετά την επίθεση της Χεζμπολάχ κατά του Ισραήλ, όταν περισσότεροι από 200 πύραυλοι εκτοξεύθηκαν εναντίον της χώρας, σε συντονισμό με τις ενέργειες των Φρουρών της Επανάστασης (IRGC).
