Axios: Netanyahu and Trump Planned Attack on Iran Since December

According to an Axios report, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former US President Donald Trump discussed in detail a potential strike against Iran as early as December 2025, during a meeting at Mar-a-Lago. The discussion stemmed from Netanyahu's desire to continue the war against Iran, which had been interrupted in June of the same year. The suppression of protesters by the Iranian regime influenced Trump's stance, who initially almost ordered an attack in January, but ultimately chose to strengthen military forces in the region and plan a joint attack with Israel, alongside exploratory talks with Iran. Sources say these talks were not an attempt to deceive Iran. The talks focused on a possible attack on February 28, when Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei would meet with his associates. The presence of Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff in the Geneva talks was considered important to ensure Khamenei's attendance at the meeting. However, the talks ended in a deadlock, as Iran rejected proposals for free nuclear fuel, discussion of ballistic missiles, and an end to support for terrorist groups. In addition, US intelligence agencies confirmed that Iran was rebuilding its nuclear facilities, leading to the failure of the negotiations.
