Attempted Murder Suspect in Custody: Victim and Perpetrator Met Through Dating Website

A 30-year-old man has been placed under an eight-day detention order following a court decision, as a suspect in the attempted murder of a 31-year-old in Larnaca. The suspect was located in the occupied area and surrendered to the Police through the Bicommunal Contact Group. The motive for the attack appears to be personal differences that arose after meeting through a dating website five months ago. According to investigations, the two men had an argument and the 30-year-old attacked the 31-year-old with a knife, wounding him in the abdominal area. The 31-year-old was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in serious condition. The 30-year-old refuses to cooperate with the authorities. During the search of the victim's apartment, which had been rented through Airbnb, drugs were found, including crystal methamphetamine and cannabis, as well as equipment for the use and weighing of drugs, and the amount of €300. However, the attempted murder does not appear to be directly linked to the drugs. The suspect's vehicle was found abandoned in a village and has been seized for further investigation. Police continue their investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the attempted murder.
