Athens Reluctant to Join Trump's 'Council of Peace' - Other Europeans Also Lean 'No'

Athens is in a dilemma regarding the acceptance of Donald Trump's invitation to join the so-called 'Council of Peace' promoted by the US president. The Greek government is examining the political and legal dimensions of the proposal, taking into account its participation in the UN Security Council. According to information, Athens tends to reject the invitation, as the proposed council exceeds the framework of UN Security Council resolution 2803 on Gaza and could undermine the role of the UN. The invitation has been sent to approximately 60 countries, with acceptance or rejection influencing future relations with Trump. Within the European Union, Germany and France are also leaning towards rejecting the invitation, while Hungary and Albania have stated they will participate. Trump is said to have secured the support of at least 10 countries to implement his plan. The proposal for the 'Council of Peace' initially concerned only Gaza and had a specific duration, but now appears to have expanded geographically and temporally, with the risk of creating a parallel structure to an international organization with the US in a leading role.
