Artist Gabriel on Painting Depicting President: "Art is Meant to Provoke"

Painter Giorgos Gabriel commented on his new artwork, which depicts the President of the Republic in a provocative manner, as a courtesan accepting only cash, while the smoke forms the outline of Cyprus. The artist emphasized that art aims to spark discussion and awaken, even if it means offending. He believes that the President and his associates have already damaged the institution with their actions, specifically mentioning the leaked video, the policy on Gaza, and the corruption scandals. Art historian Maria Pafiti and curator Vasilis Vasiliadis agreed that art has the freedom to express itself without restrictions, even if it causes reactions.
