Artemis 2 Rocket Ready for Historic Trip Around the Moon

The Artemis 2 rocket, which will carry astronauts around the Moon, is on the launch pad and ready for its historic journey. NASA is targeting a launch date of April 1st, with alternative dates up to April 6th and April 30th. The Artemis 2 mission will be the first flight of the Artemis program with astronauts aboard the Orion spacecraft, and will be a significant test of the life support systems. The astronaut crew consists of Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen. The mission will last 10 days and will include an orbit around the Moon. Artemis 2 is a critical step towards returning astronauts to the lunar surface, with the goal of establishing a permanent presence there by 2028.
