Arson of Luxury Cars: Businessman Denies Involvement – Claims SUV Was Registered to His Company Without His Knowledge

A 49-year-old businessman has been remanded in custody for five days, following a court decision, as a suspect in the arson of a luxury car showroom. The businessman denies any involvement, claiming that the SUV found at the scene of the crime had been registered to his company without his knowledge. The police investigation revealed that eight paintings worth €120,000 were destroyed in the fire, while the total damage amounts to €330,000. During a search of the businessman's home, €18,000 in cash, two imitation pistols, and five mobile phones were found and confiscated. The authorities have identified a 28-year-old from Greece as a suspect and have placed him in custody. The investigation focuses on the relationship between the 49-year-old and the 28-year-old, as well as how the SUV ended up in the latter's possession. The connection of the 49-year-old to the owners of the luxury cars is also being examined. The police used security camera footage to identify the vehicle that approached the scene shortly before the arson and to track its route to Nicosia.
