Archbishopric: Bishop Tychikos' Appeal to Civil Courts Deemed Disobedience

The Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus considers Bishop Tychikos' appeal to civil courts as an act of disobedience. Spokesperson Christakis Eustathiou stated that the Synod will convene urgently tomorrow to discuss the matter, as well as other changes to the Statutory Charter. Bishop Tychikos seeks to claim the Metropolis of Paphos through the courts, challenging the Synod's decision and bypassing the advice of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The Church of Cyprus insists that ecclesiastical matters should be resolved internally and not through civil courts, as there is no precedent for such intervention.
